WAVE ENERGY DRINK INKS 2010 SPONSORSHIP DEAL
Agreement Continues Relationship with Tommy Baldwin Racing
Charlotte, NC - (Nov. 20, 2009)
(MOORESVILLE, NC) November 20, 2009 – Wave Energy Drink has agreed to an extension of their NASCAR Sprint Cup sponsorship program with Tommy Baldwin Racing in 2010. Wave Energy Drink will appear as the primary sponsor in 14 select events, beginning with the 52nd annual Daytona 500 next February. Wave Energy Drink will be an associate sponsor for the remaining 2010 races and will be the primary sponsor for the All-Star race in May.
Wave Energy Drink entered the world of NASCAR sponsorship in August, 2009, initially signing a six-race agreement with Tommy Baldwin Racing’s No. 36 Toyota Camry team. The response to their effort was so overwhelmingly positive that the company quickly drafted an amended agreement to sponsor the team through the remainder of the 2009 racing season.
Now, as the 2009 season comes to a close, company executives at Wave Energy Drink are determined to keep the proverbial “pedal to the metal.” In addition to the season-opening “Great American Race”, Wave Energy Drink will appear as the primary sponsor at the following 2010 events: Atlanta (3/7), Texas (4/18), Richmond (5/1), Charlotte (5/22 & 5/30), Michigan (6/13), Daytona (7/3), Watkins Glen (8/8), Atlanta (9/5), Dover (9/26), Kansas (10/3), California (10/10), Texas (11/7) and Miami (11/21).
“This may have been a down year for the economy, but as a company, Wave Energy Drink excelled with the unparalleled exposure we received through our NASCAR sponsorship program,” said Jason Wolter, Vice-President of Marketing. “We made no secret of using our targeted NASCAR sponsorship to drive interest in our Wave Energy Drink franchising program. Any time we were featured on television or during interviews, our phone lines, emails and texts lit up like a Christmas tree. Because of the exposure we received, we’re currently closing on dozens of franchise and distribution deals both in the United States and Latin America. Tommy Baldwin is an outstanding team owner, businessman and has mentored us throughout the racing and sponsorship process. His help has been invaluable in growing our company and it is our hope that we will be able to support his race team to the same level of success he’s been able to give us,” he added.
Team Owner Tommy Baldwin echoed Wave’s sentiments. “The foundation has been laid down this year and it’s a matter of growing this program further as we move forward together. When Wave Energy Drink came on board, it changed the dynamic of our program. It now looks as if we’ll have better and expanded resources available to us next year than we’ve ever had before—with Wave Energy Drink’s continued involvement, there’s going to be some real improvement,” he added.

McDowell on racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway: “Well, we’ve got one more to go and we want to finish off this year in as strong a fashion as we can. We’ve done very well with qualifying the past four weeks in a row and we really need to be in the field for the finale, as well. I like Homestead because it has a lot of grip since they changed the banking around the track. It’s a lot of fun to drive this place all day long. As this season comes to a close, I have to say that I’ve really enjoyed getting the opportunity to drive for Tommy Baldwin Racing and sponsor, Wave Energy Drink. They’ve been fantastic partners and I hope that we’re all able to keep this momentum going into next season.”
Tommy Baldwin on racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway: “I can’t believe that this is the final event for our guys. Looking back, we’ve overcome so much just getting everything together and becoming a weekly player in this series. It wasn’t easy and we’ve had a few bumps along the way, but that being said, we’ve really accomplished something this season. What looked impossible at times, we’ve turned into the possible. I realize that we still have a very long way to go, but getting established this year with my own team and making it to the track every week is saying something. We all have our eye on the future, but let me say one last time how proud I am as an owner for the group of guys that we have and the partners that have all helped us make this dream a reality for me. This year was all about building a foundation, but next year will be about moving forward and capitalizing on our success.”

WAVE ENERGY DRINK TEAM COMPLETES TEXAS RACE WEEKEND
Charlotte, NC - (Nov. 9, 2009)
(FT. WORTH, TX) November 9, 2009 – Michael McDowell brought the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota home in 41st place during Sunday’s Dickies 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth. After rolling off the starting grid in 37th place, McDowell put the car through its paces. He had to dodge a serious accident on the third lap which took out point leader Jimmie Johnson’s No. 48 car. The accident and subsequent 38th place finish shrank Johnson’s overall lead to just 73 points over second place Mark Martin in the 2009 Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship. Johnson’s previous lead had been 181 points. There are only two events left in the season.
“Getting in the field Friday seemed like a complete race in and of itself,” said McDowell. “I think it just shows how hard this Tommy Baldwin Racing team works both in the shop and at the track. This is still a very new car we brought and we’ve gotten most of the kinks out of it. We were happy to be here today for the folks at Wave Energy Drink and most people know that the Texas race pays pretty well, too. I’m satisfied,” he added.
Kurt Busch won the Dickies 500 on Sunday, followed to the line by Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin and Kevin Harvick rounded out the top-five finishers on the day. Next week, the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota Team and the NASCAR circuit head to Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, AZ for the running of the Checker/O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. Coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. EST next Sunday on the ABC Network.

McDowell on racing at Texas Motor Speedway: “Yeah, Texas Motor Speedway and I have some history—some interesting history, to say the least. But I love this track. It’s fast, it’s smooth and there are multiple racing grooves making it a real driver’s track. No doubt that it is similar to Lowe’s, but it has its own characteristics, too. You really want a car that’s set up to stick on the bottom through the corners. You’ve got to pin down that front end and that’s what makes the practice sessions here so frantic. If you don’t have the right set up under the car, then this is a place where you can go backwards through the field just as fast as forward.”
Tommy Baldwin on racing at Texas Motor Speedway: “Our guys are still pretty pumped about last weekend, so it’s a nice feeling around the shop this week. I think everyone got a glimpse there of what we’re capable of once we have all of the other factors lined up. We’ve got a great car we’re bringing…this is only the third time it’s been on the racetrack. We have our work cut out for us on Friday with the number of entries, but I know we can make in this field for Sunday.”

- Michael McDowell may still be best known for his horrific accident here at the Texas Motor Speedway, coming during the qualifying session in the spring event one year ago. After getting loose entering turn one on his second lap, McDowell’s car struck the wall head on and flipped eleven times in turns one and two before coming to rest at the exit of turn two. McDowell walked away without a scratch—and only a minor headache. The replay of the accident garnered nationwide media attention and McDowell found himself an instant hit on several celebrity talk shows such as the Today Show and the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

WAVE ENERGY DRINK TEAM NAILS DOWN BEST FINISH OF THE YEAR AT TALLADEGA
Charlotte, NC - (Nov. 2, 2009)
(TALLADEGA, AL) November 2, 2009 – Robert Richardson, Jr., driver of the No. 36 Mahindra Tractors/Wave Energy Drink Toyota Camry, pulled down the best finish of the year for Tommy Baldwin Racing during Sunday’s running of the Amp Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Richardson, who did a masterful job in his first NASCAR Sprint Cup start at the 2.66-mile track, finished 18th in the final rundown. It is TBR’s best finish since their 25th place effort in the season-opener at Daytona International Speedway. It was an excellent weekend for Richardson as he pulled double duty at the track, also racing in the Camping World Truck Series, where he earned a 35th place finish in the Mountain Dew 250. By virtue of his efforts, Richardson is now approved by NASCAR as eligible to race superspeedways next year during the 2010 Speedweeks at Daytona.
“That was really a lot of fun,” said the 26-year old Richardson. “We did our best today to keep our nose clean and stay out of trouble and it paid off. Talladega is a tough place to race and you have to be prepared for anything to happen at any moment, but this place has also been pretty good to me with the finishes we have. I’d like to thank Mahindra Tractors and Wave Energy Drink for coming on board—and especially Tommy Baldwin Racing for giving me this opportunity,” he added.
Jamie McMurray won the Amp Energy 500 on Sunday, followed to the line by Kasey Kahne, Joey Logano, Greg Biffle and Jeff Burton rounded out the top-five finishers on the day. Next week, the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota Team and the NASCAR circuit head to Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth, TX for the running of the Dickies 500. Coverage begins at 2:30 p.m. EST next Sunday on the ABC Network.

Richardson on racing at Talladega Superspeedway: “I’m really excited to get this opportunity to run in the Tommy Baldwin Racing Toyota this weekend. We’ve got Mahindra Tractors and Wave Energy Drink on board with us and we’re hoping to give them a great run on Sunday. I’ve been fortunate to have run fairly decent here in the past, so I’m hoping that stat won’t change. It’s a big step up to get into the Sprint Cup Series and make a go of it. I’m planning on doing my level-headed best to stay out of trouble and bring this car home in one piece.”
Tommy Baldwin on racing at Talladega Superspeedway: “I’m glad we got hooked up with Robert [Richardson] for this deal here at Talladega. This is an opportunity for us to run the entire event and see what we can make of it along the way. Robert has a good little record here at this place—he knows how to get around here. Staying out of trouble is another deal altogether—but it’s the same for the other 42 guys out there on Sunday, too. I’m hoping we’ll be able to give Mahindra Tractors and Wave Energy Drink a good run and a good, solid weekend.”
WAVE ENERGY DRINK TEAM COMPLETES MARTINSVILLE WEEKEND
Charlotte, NC - (Oct. 26, 2009)
(MARTINSVILLE, VA) October 25, 2009 – Michael McDowell, driver of the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota Camry, put the car solidly in the field for Sunday’s running of the Tums 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Under the direction of team owner and crew chief Tommy Baldwin, the team surprised many in the garage by practicing 32nd quick on Friday morning. It may not sound like much, but McDowell’s lap times outran Chase for the Championship contenders Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart.
McDowell qualified the car in the 42nd position, with Ryan Newman taking the pole position Friday afternoon.
On Sunday, McDowell ran competitive laps times early in the event, en route to a 41st place finish overall, but with no scratches on the brand new chassis built at Tommy Baldwin Racing. And that’s more than can be said by a lot of the competitors who went the distance at the paper-clip shaped ½ mile track.
“We had a good, solid weekend,” said McDowell. “We were able to find out a lot of things that this new chassis likes with our short track set up. We were a little tight during the race, but that’s just a wedge adjustment away from being better at a place like Martinsville. Obviously, next week is a whole different ball game with the restrictor plate racing—we’re going from the smallest track on the circuit to the largest. I think we’ll be as good there, as well,” he added.
Denny Hamlin won the Bank of America 500 on Sunday, followed to the line by Jimmie Johnson, Juan-Pablo Montoya, Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon rounded out the top-five finishers on the day. Next week, the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota Team and the NASCAR circuit head to Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama for the running of the Amp Energy 500. Coverage begins at 12:00 p.m. EST next Sunday on the ABC Network.

McDowell on racing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway: “We’re very glad to get back home again and race here at our home base of Charlotte. The fans here are among the best in the country and this is where all of the teams are based, so everyone wants to put on the best performance they can. I always enjoy running this race track. It’s a real racers’ type of place and there is a premium on handling which determines exactly how well each run will go for the team. We’ve got some momentum going right now and we hope to carry this through for a great finish for ourselves and the folks at Wave Energy Drink.”
Tommy Baldwin on racing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway: “Like Michael said, we always happy to get back home again and have a chance to race right here in our own backyard. A couple of these late season long hauls out West can really take a toll on the guys, so it’s nice to know we’ll all be sleeping in our own beds this week. I think we’ve got a great car for Charlotte. It’s going to take some fine tuning, like it always does, but we’re optimistic on our chances. We’ve got a pretty full field of qualifiers this week at 48, but as long as we handle ourselves the way we should, we’ll be OK for a starting spot in the field.”

H & H MOTORSPORTS COMES UP JUST SHY OF BIG WIN AT SYRACUSE
Charlotte, NC - (Oct. 12, 2009)
WEEDSPORT, NY - (October 12, 2009) – H & H Motorsports Modified driver, Jimmy Phelps, came up just shy of a big-time victory in Sunday’s Rite-Aid 200 at the Syracuse Mile during SuperDIRT Week in Weedsport, NY. Locked into the starting lineup in sixth place by virtue of his qualifying effort, Phelps worked his way to the front in the No. 98h Wave Energy Drink car. Just past the halfway point of the 200-lap event, Phelps took the lead from points leader Brett Hearn for the next 69 straight laps at the one-mile facility. Just 10 laps shy of the checkered flag, Phelps had a slow leak in one of his tires, which robbed him of the handling on his machine. He crossed the line in 16th place overall out of the 47 car field.
This weekend marked the debut of Wave Energy Drink as the primary sponsor for H & H Motorsports two entries, one in the Modified Division and one in the 358-Modified Division. Jimmy Phelps, who finished up the year third in the final point standings, drives the No. 98h Wave Energy Drink Modified and youngster Erick Rudolph, drives the No. 98h 358-Modified. H & H Motorsports is owned by Al Heinke, which recently formed an alliance with Wave Energy Drink’s NASCAR Sprint Cup team, Tommy Baldwin Racing. Team Owner Tommy Baldwin hopes to use H & H Motorsports as a proving ground for young talent looking to break into the higher ranks of full-time NASCAR racing events. Without a doubt, their first weekend together with new sponsor, Wave Energy Drink, was a resounding success. “We had a full crew on hand to introduce our Wave Energy Drink product to the fan base in the SuperDIRT Car Series this weekend,” said Jason Wolter, VP of Marketing. “The response was pretty overwhelming. Syracuse and Buffalo are two key franchise areas for our line of energy drinks and this was a great way to build some excitement for our future distributors,” he added.
H & H Motorsports team owner Al Heinke was also impressed with the efforts of his team. “Overall it was just a great weekend for us,” he said. “We came awfully close to winning the whole shooting match, but that’s racing. We’re just glad we were able to put on a great show for the fans of this series and give our new sponsor a lot of exposure,” he added.
The Rite-Aid 200 event will be televised on a taped-delay broadcast on the SPEED Channel on Saturday, October 31st, 2009, beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST. NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace will be doing color analysis for the event.
WAVE ENERGY DRINK TEAM COMPLETES CALIFORNIA SPEEDWAY EVENT WEEKEND
Charlotte, NC - (Oct. 12, 2009)
(FONTANA, CA) October 12, 2009 – Michael McDowell, driver of the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota Camry, finished the Pepsi 500 at the Auto Club Speedway in 40th place. It was a long haul out west for Tommy Baldwin Racing and the rest of the NASCAR field, after the race date was moved from its previous Labor Day Weekend slot in 2008. The team was pleased to have made the field this week, having just missed out during last weekend’s Kansas Speedway event. The TBR/Wave Energy Drink Team is looking forward to heading to their home base in Charlotte, NC for this weekend’s Bank of America 500 at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Charlotte is home to 90% of competing NASCAR teams.
“It will be a lot of fun to perform in front of the home town fans this weekend,” said Michael McDowell. “Everyone in the sport looks forward to racing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway,” he added.
Jimmie Johnson won the Pepsi 500, followed to the line by Jeff Gordon, Juan-Pablo Montoya, Mark Martin and Tony Stewart rounded out the top-five finishers on the day. McDowell on racing at Auto Club Speedway: “I’m looking forward to this weekend. Qualifying is at a premium for our team right now and I have a third place effort under my belt from last year in the Nationwide Series. The Auto Club Speedway is so smooth and though it’s similar to Michigan in length, it’s similar as a ‘driver’ track, as well. I also have the benefit of participating in a Goodyear Tire Test at this facility and we’ve got some great notes to fall back on as a result of the two days we spent here. I know everybody at Tommy Baldwin Racing and Wave Energy Drink are geared up about getting out here this weekend and I intend to get them in the show and log as many laps as I can. We’re really gaining some momentum and trying to put something special together as we go forward.”
Tommy Baldwin on racing at Auto Club Speedway: “It’s a bit of relief to know that we’re competing this week at a place where we have some great information and setup notes. Michael [McDowell] did a [Goodyear] test here and he’s pretty comfortable in knowing how to get around this place. We came up a little short last week in qualifying, but I don’t foresee the same problem this weekend. California is a top-notch facility and hopefully we’ll build up some momentum heading into Charlotte next week, as well.”

WAVE ENERGY DRINK TEAM JUST MISSES OUT AT KANSAS SPEEDWAY
Charlotte, NC - (Oct. 2, 2009)
(KANSAS CITY, KS) October 2, 2009 – Michael McDowell, driver of the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota Camry, just missed making the cut this weekend at Kansas Speedway, where his lap of 31.570 seconds put him two slots over the outside looking in. Though his effort was good enough for 42nd overall, two drivers with more points were moved ahead of him on the grid.
“That’s tough,” said 24-year old Michael McDowell. “We really buckled down during practice this morning, trying to find the right combination here. These guys work awfully hard for Tommy Baldwin Racing and the Wave Energy Drink folks. We won’t let this get us down. Salvation is always one more week away and we’ve got to turn everything around and get ready for California. I’ll be fairly comfortable getting back there. I qualified third there in the Nationwide Series earlier this year and had a chance to participate in a testing session at the track for a couple of days. We’ve logged some laps there and the more experience you can get at one of these facilities, the better off you’ll be,” he added.
Tony Stewart won the Price Chopper 400, followed to the line by Jeff Gordon, Greg Biffle, Juan-Pablo Montoya and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top-five finishers on the day. Next week, the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota Team and the NASCAR circuit head to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California for the running of the Pepsi 500. McDowell on racing at Kansas Speedway: “This will be my first trip to Kansas Speedway in an official sense. I understand that it [Kansas] being a 1.5-miler that it’s similar to several of the other tracks like Vegas and Chicago—but I also know that every track is completely unique and has its own set of characteristics which set it apart. I’ve kind of down my homework—so to speak, and I’m really looking forward to getting out there and making some practice runs on Friday and Saturday. I’m still very glad to be working with Tommy [Baldwin Racing] and the guys. Wave Energy Drink is back on the car this week and we’re thrilled to have them here.”
Tommy Baldwin on racing at Kansas Speedway: “It’s been a real busy week for us here at the race team. We’ve got so much exciting stuff going on right now. I’ve been working really hard with our new partners, Wave Energy Drink, to get this program cranked up for the remainder of this year and things are going very well. I had a big sponsorship presentation in New York this week that went very well, but it’s time to get back to where the rubber meets the road. Michael [McDowell] and I have been talking all week about our approach this weekend in practice and qualifying. Kansas Speedway is a pretty smooth place, but you have to be a careful driver here. It’s really smooth and it’s really fast and if you’re not careful, you can get lulled into thinking that it’s too easy to drive here. From my experiences, it’s a great track and a great facility and I think Michael will do a heck of a job for us here.”

Wave Energy Drink is beginning to gain some serious notoriety in the garage area. Prior to Sunday’s scheduled event, Wave Energy Drink driver Michael McDowell participated in a one-on-one interview with Clare B. Lang, host of the nationally-syndicated Sirius/XM Satellite NASCAR Channel 128. “We’ve got a lot of things going on right now that are helping us build a foundation for success as we both move forward together,” said McDowell. “For Tommy Baldwin Racing, it’s about helping this young up-and-coming driver get some seat time and do the best I can to make a name for myself going forward. I just want to race and be the best spokesperson I can be for a sponsor like Wave Energy Drink. They’re working so hard right now on their franchising efforts to grow their business. This racing program is helping to drive folks over to their website, www.tastethewave.com, where they can learn all about the great opportunities they have going forward. Basically, we’re doing our part and they’re doing their part and we’re coming up through the ranks together for the remainder of this season so that, again, we can lay that foundation for next year and beyond,” he added.

McDowell on racing at Dover International Speedway: “Dover really is a track where you love to race. It’s got great speed, you get to dive into those corners and make the car stick and it can be a lot of fun when you have good grip all day. I’m still really excited to be with Tommy Baldwin and the guys and especially since Wave (Energy Drink) has come on board. We’re really laying the groundwork for something special here in the future. We’re benefiting and so is Wave Energy Drink. I just think it’s going to be a great combination. We need to do as well as we can for them right now because we’ll continue to grow together.”
Tommy Baldwin on racing at Dover International Speedway: “I’m real proud to be taking my guys back here to Dover. We’re really excited with a lot of things that are happening behind the scenes right now. The guys are pumped up and we just have to go out here and get what we can get. It’s another chance to showcase our new sponsor in Wave Energy Drink and hopefully get them some exposure along the way. From what they (Wave) tell us, the interest level really peaks when they catch a glimpse or get a mention on television or radio. They’re really building up the franchising end of their business right now and NASCAR and our involvement are making it happen.”

WAVE ENERGY DRINK TOYOTA COMPLETES NEW HAMPSHIRE WEEKEND
No. 36 Team Pleased With Effort While Looking to the Future
Charlotte, NC - (Sept. 23, 2009)
(LOUDON, NH) September 21, 2009 – Michael McDowell, driver of the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota Camry, placed a hard-fought 41st position in yesterday’s Sylvania 300 NASCAR event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. During Friday’s qualifying session, McDowell placed the team 40th on the starting grid for NASCAR’s first race in the 2009 Sprint Cup Chase for the Championship.
Prior to qualifying, crew chief and team owner Tommy Baldwin put the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota through the paces of two jam-packed practice sessions with the best overall speed of 129.235 miles per hour around the 1.058 mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The team participated in NASCAR’s final practice session—or “Happy Hour” on Saturday morning. The crew concentrated on both the balance of the car and the rotation of the car through the flat-banked turns. “Any time you come to New Hampshire, it’s the same thing on setups—you’ve got to get that car to turn through the corners. You fight such a tight condition all the time, but yet you can’t free the car up too much or you risk a spin,” said Baldwin.
When the green flag flew just past 2 p.m. Eastern, McDowell gassed the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota while pacing himself through the opening laps. Opening laps are usually tentative as drivers wait for tire pressures to come up and grip to increase as they tip toe around the tight corners. Driver Michael McDowell radioed feedback to Tommy Baldwin during the first few laps. “The car was tight, just had trouble turning,” said McDowell. “But that’s always expected here,” he added, echoing Baldwin’s earlier statements.
Following the race, Team Owner Tommy Baldwin stated the following, “Hats off to my guys again—they worked hard all weekend. We’re still growing, still learning and even better, working with a great new sponsor in Wave Energy Drink. Since they’ve come on board, their franchising operation is getting calls left and right about new distribution for their product. The bigger they get, the bigger we can get and believe me, we have some great things planned for our long term future together.”
Baldwin’s assessment was echoed by Wave Energy Drink VP or Marketing, Jason Wolter. “We’ve really got a lot of synergy going on right now—especially behind the scenes. Every time our car shows up on television during a NASCAR race, our website page views and phone calls ratchet up. We’re getting calls about more franchisees and expanded orders from our existing clients. This program is working and it has the potential to make some really big gains in a short amount of time. What I see now is an incredible synergy coming together for Tommy Baldwin Racing and Wave Energy Drink.”
Mark Martin won the Sylvania 300, followed to the line by Denny Hamlin, Juan Pablo-Montoya, Jimmie Johnson and Kyle Busch rounded out the top-five finishers on the day. Next week, the No. 36 Wave Energy Drink Toyota Team and the NASCAR circuit head to Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware for the running of the AAA 300. Coverage begins on ABC at 2 p.m. EDT.
